A Mozambican couple who serve faithfully with us now have a precious little girl after the eighth pregnancy. Because of malaria, poor medical resources and poor diet, the wife continued to suffer one miscarriage after another. Thank you for praying.
We are having a lot of malaria-related deaths. Recently, we met “Baby J.,” who is only three months old and struggling to live. His mother and father both died. “M.” and his wife buried their little 2-year-old baby recently. The baby had malaria off and on, and finally pneumonia took his little life. “R.” and “A.” lost their five-month-old baby boy due to malaria and dehydration.
In the United States, this baby could have easily been saved. Daily people die of simple diseases here in Mozambique. Screens on windows would help, mosquito spray would help, mosquito nets would help, proper trash pickup and garbage bags would help, proper houses to live in would help.
Missionaries, nurses, doctors, pastors and other leaders can help by teaching preventative measures to guard against malaria.
Please pray for our missionaries and churches as we try to teach simple measures of prevention.
Pray for those who daily contract malaria and live so far out in the bush that they cannot get medicine and for those who simply cannot afford it.
Pray for the doctors and nurses to have compassion as they treat their patients. Some do not, and that causes more suffering.
