There is some unhappiness these days with the decisions of our NAMB and IMB to require missionaries to agree to work within the framework of our Baptist Faith and Message. However others might feel, I am very glad for these decisions. It is good to have an assurance that the offerings I am leading my people to give will be administered faithfully within the framework of the basic scriptural doctrines we believe.
This is not some evil form of creedalism or dictatorship, but rather a responsible and necessary stewardship.
There is no other area in life where individuals are given massive amounts of funds carte blanche, and it would be foolish to do that in the Lord’s work. Southern Baptists overwhelmingly approved our Baptist Faith and Message by a democratic vote, and our missionaries ought to be expected to stick to it.
