Morris Harmon “Buddy” Mohon, pastor of Northside Baptist Church, Andalusia, died May 14. He was 71.
A Locust Fork native, Mohon graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and the University of Biblical Studies in Bethany, Okla.
In addition to his pastorate at the Covington Baptist Association church, Mohon served as pastor of other Alabama congregations — Acmar Baptist Church; Hopewell Baptist Church, Pinson; First Baptist Church, Carbon Hill; and Canaan Baptist Church, Bessemer.
In addition to serving on committees for the Alabama Baptist State Convention and the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Mohon served on the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions and as vice moderator for Bessemer Baptist Association.
He also served in France during the Vietnam era with the Birmingham-based 117th United States Air National Guard Reconnaissance Wing.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean; three sons; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. (TAB)
