Montgomery native named Larry King Scholar

BIRMINGHAM – Jeff Huett, a native of Montgomery, was recently named a Larry King Scholar at George Washington University. This annual award of $15,000 will pay for two semesters of tuition while Huett works toward a master’s degree in the school of media and public affairs with a concentration in political communication. Huett has been working at the Baptist Joint Committee political advocacy group in Washington, D.C., since graduating from Baylor University in August 2000 with a degree in journalism.

Huett was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Montgomery and was heavily involved in Royal Ambassadors’ Challengers. Though he recently joined Columbia Baptist in Falls Church, Va., his parents, Larry and Lynne Huett, still attend Eastern Hills.
