Moscow seminaries merge, growing

Moscow Theological Seminary (MTS) has merged with Moscow Theological Institute (MTI) and will retain the MTS name. Along with the merger, Peter Mitskevich, senior vice president of the Russian Baptist union and pastor of Golgotha Baptist Church in Moscow, was elected rector, or president. He assumed his duties June 13.
The merger began in November 2006 when MTI moved to the MTS campus. The new school, which offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees, operates in four locations — Moscow (the main campus), Chita, Chelyabinsk and Noyabrsk. Other campuses are planned for Lenin-Kuznetsky, opening in October, and Rostov On Don, opening in 2008.

When the new centers are operational, the seminary enrollment is expected to rise above 300 students from a current enrollment of just more than 230.

Courses are offered in pastoral ministry and Christian education.
The Russian seminary is run in collaboration with Russian Leadership Ministries in the United States, which provides 90 percent of the support for students, the academic program and the administration of the school.  (BWA)
