Mount Gilead Baptist in Dozier calls new pastor

Ben Praytor is the new pastor of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Dozier.

He is an Alabama native, growing up in Birmingham and Opp. Praytor has a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences from Troy University, and currently works as a civilian contractor at Fort Novosel and as a chaplain for the Opp Police Department.

Praytor began serving in ministry in 2006. He earned a master of divinity from Liberty University and became a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a major. Praytor was the youth pastor at West County Line Baptist Church and Beulah Baptist Church, both in Opp. He became the senior pastor at Beulah Baptist in 2016.

He and his wife, Gina, have two daughters.
