Mount Vernon Baptist in Collinsville celebrates 150th anniversary

Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Collinsville, celebrated its 150th anniversary Dec. 8. Sharon Burke, the pastor’s wife, sang a song of praise to begin the service.

Wendell Dutton, a commissioner for the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission and associational missionary for Cherokee Association, presented the church with a commemorative plaque followed by special music by David and Kim Trail, Eloise Norris and Todd Ozment.

Terry Burke, the pastor, brought the message. Several historical displays were set up in the family life center for people to enjoy during lunch.
