Concerning Bob Terry’s contribution on church music (Feb. 14 issue), I would like to say I believe it does make a difference what is sung. I can see it in the faces and hear it in the voices of those present.
The Bible is not too old. It is still very much relevant. And it doesn’t matter if a song comes from way back, as "Silent Night."
I have learned many new songs from my association with Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College. The words are clear and powerful, from a book called "Living Hymns." As many as 6,000 attend — more than half college students. They love it and the service is telecast worldwide on Daystar Television Network (7 p.m. Sundays) and is heard at www.rejoice.org (8 p.m. Sundays).
Last year, I heard Pastor Danny Sweatt in Lilburn, Ga., say we need to sing stuff which has "relevance." I heartily agree. If people have trouble relating, they won’t sing and we will just resort to watching a four-person "praise team" perform.
