Herb Brisbane had participants at the fourth annual Alabama Baptist Leadership/Church Growth Conference repeatedly shouting ”Amen!” during a message in which he said pastors sometimes need to jump start their ministries.
“Some of you need to start to dream over again,” said Brisbane, multicultural consultant manager with the North American Mission Board.
But Brisbane, speaking the second day of the conference, said dreaming again is not the only solution to a stronger ministry. Delivering an often fiery message, he said ministers should take advantage of difficult times.
“Pastor, when you are going through something, that’s when you ought to have your best worship,” Brisbane said. He told those assembled they should preach themselves happy. If they are struggling, he said they should ask if anything is too hard for God.
“Nothing is too hard for God,” he said.
“Some of y’all might be struggling through some things, but hold on,” he advised, “because your season hasn’t come yet.”
“God wants to do some important things in your church,” he said.
