NAMB VP nominated Illinois executive director

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Nate Adams, 47, has been recommended as the next executive director of the Illinois Baptist State Association. Adams, who has strong roots in Illinois, has been vice president of mission mobilization for the North American Mission Board since 1997. He previously worked for Christianity Today in Carol Stream, Ill., for 17 years, concluding his tenure as vice president of corporate publishing operations.

The Illinois search committee unanimously selected Adams from a field of 30 candidates, Jim Rahtjen, the committee’s chairman, said. The committee will present Adams to the full board before the end of January.

Adams has been interim pastor of Bridgeway Church in Alpharetta, Ga., since January 2005 and has served as interim pastor at two other Georgia churches. He was a founding pastor of a Southern Baptist church in St. Charles, Ill., and served at First Baptist Church, St. Charles, in several roles. He has served on the board of Judson College, an American Baptist college, in Evanston, Ill., since 1995.
