Nances Creek Baptist holds 150th anniversary celebration

Nances Creek Baptist Church, Jacksonville, celebrated a service full of presentations for its 150th anniversary celebration Dec. 6.

The service began at 10:30 a.m. with church member Bo Roberts presenting awards and recognizing families and members of the church. Rick Lance, executive director of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, brought the message. A fellowship lunch followed the morning service.

Lance also was the keynote speaker for the afternoon service. Special songs were performed and Sonja Adams, Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative, presented a plaque to the church as did Sid Nichols, director of missions of Calhoun Baptist Association.

Nances Creek Baptist also honored its parent church, Rabbittown Baptist Church, Piedmont. Cake and coffee were served to finish the celebration day.

Pastor Garry Brown said the event was large enough that they had to set out extra chairs to accommodate the 180 current and former members who participated.
