Ten years ago, Terry Godwin was faithfully attending his local church when he felt God call him to preach. Not too long after, he went to fill in one Sunday for New Chapel Baptist Church, Kinston, in Sardis Baptist Association — a congregation of six people.
“I left and they called me back and asked me about being their pastor,” Godwin said.
He was nervous. This was all new, and he would be serving bivocationally while working his job in the aerospace industry.
But he said yes. And a decade later, the church is running 80 to 100 on Sundays.
“We’ve seen a lot of people saved, a lot of people delivered from drugs,” Godwin said. “God’s still moving. He’s really blessed the church’s ministry, and He’s not done yet.” (Grace Thornton)
