New students look forward to college

This fall is the start of a brand new chapter in my life, and I am so excited and nervous. It is amazing all the emotions one feels as he or she finishes high school and moves on to one of the biggest transitions in his or her life.”

That’s how First Baptist Church, Fairhope, member Taylor Lee begins the online journal chronicling her freshman year at the University of Mobile (UM). She is one of seven freshmen who will write about their experiences on the UM Web site at www.umobile.edu/blogs. Writers include students majoring in business administration, computer information systems, theology, sociology and elementary and secondary education. In addition to students from across Alabama, writers include freshmen from Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi.

The journals, or weblogs, are one way potential UM students and their parents can “visit” the campus and catch a glimpse of the UM experience.

“I am really looking forward to this fall,” Lee concluded in her first posting. “God is amazing. I know He is at work on this campus, and I can’t wait to see what He has planned for me these next four years here at UM.”  (UM)
