Walter Blackman says he’s glad Suzanne Nichols has an appetite for Bible Drill.
"She’s done a marvelous job (as director of the program)," said Blackman, pastor of East Highland Baptist Church, Hartselle, in Morgan Baptist Association.
"In many churches, it’s died out but because of Suzanne and the people she has enlisted to help her, we not only have Bible Drill but the programs for younger children, too." (See story, this page.)
Nichols, who has worked with the program for about two decades and directed it for one, was drawn into the program when her son Randall entered the fourth grade and the Bible Drill program.
She was hooked. Bible Drill is "a unique way to serve the church and serve God," Nichols said. "It helps children learn … what He expects of them and how to follow Him."
Sonya Tucker, an associate in the office of discipleship and family ministries for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, said Nichols’ standout quality is "her faithful, consistent, passionate leadership to help … young people know and love God’s Word."
Her dedication has made a difference in the church, Tucker said.
And Nichols said she doesn’t have plans to quit anytime soon. "I want to keep going as long as I can." (TAB)
