No need for election

No need for election

I was surprised beyond words when I read the front page coverage Oct. 28 on “Elect Jesus As Lord.” I thought He had already been elected to the highest office in eternity — the Lord of Lords, King of Kings.

I wish to challenge any idea that voting for Jesus is either scriptural or salvational. The Bible says, “Whoever believeth in Him. …” 1. First you need a candidate running for an office before you can vote. Jesus has never run for any office.

2. Paul uses the term elect more than 20 times to describe God’s activity but never related in any way to man’s action. At no time is the word vote ever used.

3. God (chose, elected) Jesus to be Savior. God (chose, elected) the cross as His method of access of man to His grace.

4. Jesus has already been elected and installed in the highest office in eternity — Lord of Lords, King of Kings — by God the Father.

5. I am not ready nor willing to substitute the process of believing, trusting, repentance and faith to voting and electing.
