ARLINGTON, Va. — Trustees of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies have named Mark Olson, former pastor of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, Fayetteville, N.C., as the second president of the Arlington, Va., school.
The decision was announced June 14. Olson, who was unanimously elected, will replace Randall Everett at the only accredited Baptist seminary near the nation’s capital. He will take his post in July.
After graduating from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., and receiving a master’s degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., Olson received his doctorate from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He has worked as a pastor in churches in Virginia and served as first vice president of the Baptist General Association of Virginia.
Olson was also on the board of trustees of Averett University in Danville, Va., and the presidential board of advisors for Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.
