Pakistani Christian school closes for a year

MUREE, Pakistan — The Pakistani Christian school where six people were killed Aug. 5 will close for at least one year as threats of terrorist attacks against Western interests continue to rise.

The Murree Christian School said closing its doors was the only way to keep its children safe. The school, founded in 1956, houses the children of missionaries from 20 countries.

The school plans to close at least until May, and then decide whether to reopen for the next school year, which begins in August 2003.

The school said it is considering holding high school classes in another country.
