Thank God for a Song
Sonlite
The best track is served up first on “Thank God for a Song” by Palmetto State. “Reach For The Sky” has a memorable lyrical hook, a solid vocal performance, and a strong country track. Bass singer Burman Porter has never sounded better. “It Only Takes One” enters the same bold musical zone a few tracks later.
Ten years from now, “Thank God for a Song” probably won’t be remembered as Palmetto State’s best effort, but it could be known as the one that paved the way for their best. Time will tell. Songs like “Reach for the Sky” and “It Only Takes One” should attract a new wave of fans. With future recordings, the key for Palmetto State should be to match or surpass the level of quality set by those two songs.
