The 15 to 20 gunmen who stormed Bege Baptist Church in Yaribori village in Nigeria’s Katsina state are believed to be Islamic extremists, TruthNigeria says, as Christian Daily-Morning Star reports.
According to TruthNigeria, “Congregation members said the slain Gidan Taro was a prominent convert from Islam, and that Pastor Na’allah had worked to reconcile the village’s Muslim and Christian communities,” reports Christian Daily-Morning Star.
More violence
Elsewhere in Nigeria, at least 100 Christians have been slain in Plateau state since May, sources told Christian Daily-Morning Star.
World Watch
Nigeria has led the world in the number of Christians killed for their faith or kidnapped. The country ranks No. 7 on Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
Open Doors states that “the measure of anti-Christian violence in the country (of Nigeria) is already at the maximum possible under World Watch List methodology,” reports Christian Daily-Morning Star.
