ABUJA, Nigeria — A pastor and two Christians were killed in separate incidents in Nigeria in January.
On Jan. 25, pastor Jerry Hinjari of Christ Nation International was taken from his home in Yola in Adamawa State. According to a report from Morning Star News, his body was found along a Yola roadside the next day.
Two days before Hinjari’s abduction, two Christians were killed in Toru-Angiama village in Delta State. Several others were wounded or kidnapped.
Delta State Police Command said two bodies were recovered and a third individual was hospitalized for gunshot wounds. Efforts were underway to rescue those abducted.
Morning Star reported that residents in the area said the two people killed were a father and son. The person hospitalized escaped from the attack and warned others in the community.
Nigeria is No. 6 on Open Doors’ 2023 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian. The country led the world in 2022 for the number of Christians kidnapped or killed for their faith.
