George Smitherman retired at the end of 2008 after 34 years of ministry. The last three years, Smitherman served as pastor of Zion Baptist Church, Woodland, in Randolph Baptist Association.
Other churches he served include Noble Street Baptist, Anniston, in Calhoun Baptist Association and Dorcas Baptist, Jack, in Coffee Baptist Association.
“It has truly been a blessing serving the Lord for 34 years, and I plan to serve Him as long as He allows me to,” Smitherman said. “He has given me a passion for evangelism. We need another Great Awakening in America, and I will do all I can to see that happen.”
