Pastors Conference to encourage ‘laborers in His vineyard’ with renewed vision

Dusty McLemore said over the years, God has used Galatians 6:9 to remind him that ministry can be difficult.

That feeling is something that’s definitely not uncommon for pastors. And that’s why he chose his life verse — “And let us not grow weary while doing good for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” — to be the theme of this year’s Alabama Baptist Pastors Conference.

“In recent days, I have had two pastors comment to me that they were tired and beat down,” said McLemore, president of the pastors conference and pastor of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, Athens, in Limestone Baptist Association.

The apostle Paul understood those feelings, he said.

“The seed that is planted does not immediately bear fruit,” McLemore explained, noting that the seed needs time to take root before it is able to bear fruit.

“My heart’s desire and prayer is that God would mightily use this pastors conference to speak truth through His anointed servants and to encourage the laborers in His vineyard,” he said.

During the all-day conference, set for Nov. 16 at Lindsay Lane Baptist, pastors and others in attendance will hear eight messages on the theme “Don’t Grow Weary … We Shall Reap.”

Speakers will be
• Joel Carwile, senior pastor, Valley View Baptist Church, Louisville, Ky.;
• Mike McLemore, executive director, Birmingham Baptist Association;
• Sammy Gilbreath, director of evangelism, Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions;
• Junior Hill, evangelist from Hartselle;
• Bob Pitman, evangelist from Muscle Shoals;
• Phil Hoskins, senior pastor, Higher Ground Baptist Church, Kingsport, Tenn.;
• Richard Land, president, The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission; and
• Johnny Hunt, president, Southern Baptist Convention, and senior pastor, First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Ga.

“May we each leave this conference with a renewed spirit and a strengthened vision,” Dusty McLemore said.
