One of Christian music’s most beloved songwriters, performers and worship leaders has released his 12th album, “The Same Love,” on Integrity Music. Paul Baloche’s new record is filled, as they all have been, with Scripture-rich, soul-enriching worship and praise anthems, uplifting rockers, and memorable choruses that we will be singing in church and listening to on the radio for a long time. I have always been amazed that Baloche has been able to maintain his grueling schedule of teaching, writing, recording and worship leading and still produce what is arguably the best church music of the last two decades. It can only be a God thing.

With songwriting help from a stellar group of friends and shared vocals on seven of the 13 songs, Baloche has nonetheless kept the focus of this record solely on Jesus and His desire that we know Him.

The title track sets the tone for the whole record, reminding us that God’s love for us is and always will be unchanging. “Your Blood Ran Down” is one of the most touching songs on the album. With only piano, cello and voice, it is in chorus format for easy integration into church worship and presents a beautiful picture of Jesus’ sacrifice to save His people.

Let’s hope that 20 years from now, we’ll still be marveling at the wonderful church music from Baloche. If this record is any indicator, we will be.
