Pleasant Grove Association turns 100

Pleasant Grove Baptist Association celebrated its 100th anniversary during the Oct. 21-22 associational meeting.

Director of Missions Nolan Stinnett said the association actually began as Blue Creek Baptist Association in 1902 with six churches. The name changed to Pleasant Grove in 1912. “Today, we have 18 churches in the association,” Stinnett said.

A history of the area and the association was presented at the meeting. Each of the churches displayed posters depicting the year the church was admitted into the association along with a pictorial and written history of the church.

Stinnett believes the churches are just as strong today as when they began. All 18 churches support missions and work together, he said.

“Our growth and successes today are due to the hard work, dedication, unity and perseverance of those before us,” he said. “We plan to continue this legacy for the glory of God,” Stinnett said.
