The current incarnation of Poet Voices teams “The Poet,” Phil Cross, with Greg Crowe and Mark Lanier. All three continue to enjoy outstanding solo ministries, while residing in three different states — but as a group, they’re solidly united in both performance and purpose.

Cross has a writing hand in all but one of the 10 songs on this album and shares producing credits with Cliff Duren (who was mentored by master arranger Larry Goss). As for the title song, forget the old Beatles’ tune — this one’s better, with a prettier melody and a much more meaningful message.

“Come on, Children” has shown some strength on the charts, and you can also expect to hear more of “Dear God,” on which the group exhibits some outstanding unison work in addition to its tight harmony.
