William H. (Bill) Ponder, retired director of missions (DOM) for Washington Association, died March 6 at age 85.
Ponder, a native of Bay Springs, Miss., served as DOM 1962-1984. After retiring he became pastor of Dickinson Baptist Church in Clarke Association.
Ponder, a World War II veteran serving 1942-1944, was living in Chatom and was a member of First Baptist Church, Chatom, at the time of his death.
Ponder was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva. He is survived by two sons; his second wife, Elizabeth; seven step-children and one sister.
