INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indiana Baptist newspaper has fallen victim to a so-called “extortion” attempt by an Internet pornographer who took over the paper’s former Web address.
The official state paper of the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana (SCBI) moved its online publication to the new state convention Web site, www.scbi.org. Six months later, The Indiana Baptist gave up its rights to its former domain name, www.indybaptist.org.
The Indiana Baptist reported that the pornographers agreed to sell back the domain name at a much higher price in “an attempt to extort money from the SCBI.”
