Alabamians interested in addressing issues related to poverty are invited to attend a statewide conference. “Confronting Poverty: Making Change II,” Sept. 15, at Judson College (JC) in Marion.
Participant will develop strategies that can be implemented in their communities.
Session topics are: women and poverty, education and poverty, constitutional reform, economic development, church involvement in poverty issues and how to increase community awareness about poverty.
The conference is open to any community leaders and volunteers who are interested in ending poverty in Alabama. The event is co-sponsored by Samford University’s (SU) Alabama Poverty Project (APP), JC and the National Conference for Community and Justice. Registration fee is based on ability to pay. Scholarships are available.
The APP is a nonprofit organization created to educate Alabamians on the causes and consequences of poverty, and to motivate citizens to work to eliminate poverty.
