Danny R. Powell, a former Alabama Baptist pastor, died July 21. He was 55.
Powell served as pastor of Flatwoods Baptist Church, Gordo, and Valley Park Baptist Church, Montgomery, as well as serving as a chaplain for Southern Care Hospice in the state. He later moved to Georgia and continued his hospice work there.
Powell was a 21-year veteran of the armed forces, first as a Navy officer and then with the Army National Guard and Air Force.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, a master’s degree from Jacksonville State University and a master’s from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is survived by his wife, Debra, and two children. (TAB)
