The deacons of Forest Lake Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, mailed a free copy of “Preacher Behave: A Handbook of Ministerial Ethics” by J. Clarke Hensley to every Southern Baptist pastor in Alabama June 19.
“It’s a book that is hopefully going to help address different situations ministers in the church find themselves dealing with, such as weddings, funerals and what’s appropriate behavior for ministers in these situations,” said Forest Lake Pastor Donnie Payne.
This “handbook for pastors…gives lots of good practical advice…lots of our ministers will never have an opportunity to go to a Bible college or seminary or have a mentor. This book will fill in the gaps,” he said.
He hopes that knowledge gained from this book will help pastors prolong their stay at a church, which is rewarding for both the pastor and the congregation.
“Preacher Behave” was revised and re-released by The Ministers’ Friend in conjunction with Parrish House Books in 2001. (TAB)
