Presbyterian businessman tapped to head up Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity, the international Christian organization that builds inexpensive homes for low-incomes people, has named a Presbyterian businessman as its next leader.

The Americus, Ga.-based group announced Aug. 4 that Jonathan Reckford would become Habitat’s chief executive.

Reckford currently serves as executive pastor of the 4,300-member Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, Minn., a Minneapolis suburb. The church has been active in Habitat projects.

Reckford, 42, previously had an executive-level career in the business world.

According to Habitat officials, he has worked for the Disney, Best Buy and Marriot corporations.

Reckford will assume the job that Habitat’s legendary founder, Millard Fuller, held from the beginning of Habitat’s ministry nearly 30 years ago until just this year.
