Even in the moment she was diagnosed with cancer, Sharma Price was able to see God’s hand in the situation. Clinging to her favorite Bible verse as a guide, she knew the situation would provide a good witnessing tool. Since overcoming cancer, she has shared her experiences with others as a way to talk about Christ.

Q: How did you come to know the Lord?

A: I was saved when I was 7 years old in a regular Sunday morning worship service.

Q: How did your relationship with Christ get you through your cancer diagnosis and treatment?

A: First, I had just a complete sense of peace from the moment I was diagnosed because of my relationship with Christ. From the first moment I heard “you have cancer,” there was a sense of peace. Second, the power of prayer made a difference. There were people within our church and family praying for me before I ever knew I had cancer.

Q: How has Christ blessed your life since having cancer?
A: I think that being allowed to have cancer has been a real blessing. It gave me a platform, a testimony and a witness that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Q: How have you been involved with church through the years?
A: We are very active in our church. We have been on numerous outreach teams, including the FAITH team. We have been active in our Sunday School classes. I have taught junior high girls’ Sunday School classes in the past. We have also gone on missions trips in the summer.

Q: What difference has being a Christian made in your life?
A: Everything. I really don’t think I would be here physically without the power of prayer. God healed me from cancer and the danger of cancer. I can’t adequately put into words the awesome blessing that I have been able to experience — He really is everything.
