Princeton Baptist Medical Center (BMC) recently received the American Heart Association’s Get With the Guidelines–Coronary Artery Disease (GWTG–CAD) Gold Performance Achievement Award, which recognizes the hospital that has demonstrated for 24 consecutive months that at least 85 percent of its eligible coronary patients are discharged following the American Heart Association’s recommended guidelines.
Under GWTG–CAD, patients are started on risk-reduction therapies such as cholesterol-lowering drugs, aspirin and beta-blockers and receive smoking cessation/weight management counseling as well as referrals for cardiac rehabilitation.
Princeton BMC has also received two other awards related to heart health in the past year. Opened in 1922, Princeton BMC is the flagship hospital of Birmingham’s Baptist Health System.
