The State of Alabama Department of Corrections will hold a prison ministry conference Sept. 28-29 at the Cathedral of the Cross Church in Birmingham. This is the second year this conference has been held.
The theme for this year’s conference is “The Cross Is the Key.”
Department of Corrections Chairman Michael Haley said the conference is designed to train prison chaplains and volunteers from all denominations.
They keynote speaker is Paul Carlin, a Texas-based prison evangelist, pastor and trainer. Haley said Carlin and his wife, Jeri, have been involved in prison ministry for approximately 30 years.
Haley added that prison chaplains, various ministry volunteers and others will lead training sessions during the conference.
