Steven Carey, UM associate professor of biology, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alabama Science Olympiad. The Science Olympiad is a national organization that teaches advanced science through hands-on work. All events involve teamwork, group planning and cooperation. Nearly 5,000 Alabama students participated in the program in 2006.
