Former TAB office manager dies at 93
Kathleen Vaughan Prude, who served at The Alabama Baptist for 20 years, died May 3. She was 93.
Prude attended Fairfield High School, Alabama College for Women (now the University of Montevallo) and Samford University in Birmingham.
She spent more than 60 years teaching Sunday School classes and wrote curriculum materials for youth and youth leadership. She was active in denominational life and served in different capacities at Ridgecrest Baptist Conference Center in North Carolina and Glorieta Baptist Conference Center (now Glorieta 2.0) in New Mexico.
She was an active member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church, Birmingham, for 45 years.
Prude’s work at the paper lives on through information she compiled during her tenure for the monthly column, “Historical Highlights.” When she began at the paper she worked at the front desk and later became the office manager.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marvin Louis Prude. She is survived by one daughter, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
