Bob Pruett recently retired after serving nearly 45 years in ministry, serving First Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove, as the pastor of education for the last 11 years.
Pruett, who earned his master’s degree in religious education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, also served churches in Texas, Arkansas and Tennessee.
Pruett served outside the church as a leader for adult education for more than 10 years at the Baptist Sunday School Board of Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, S.C., and Glorieta Conference Center in Glorieta, N.M.
Pruett also received a fellow in church business administration from the Southern Baptist Convention and the National Association of Church Business Administration.
First, Pleasant Grove, held a retirement service for Pruett in early August 2012. Daven Watkins, pastor of First, Pleasant Grove, shared the message and Mike McLemore, executive director of Birmingham Baptist Association, presented Pruett with a certificate of appreciation from the association. A reception followed the service.
Pruett currently works with the single adult ministry at First, Pleasant Grove.
He and his wife, Barbara, have two children and eight grandchildren.
