Hundreds of boys sliced up a big piece of birthday cake to salute the 100th year of Royal Ambassadors (RAs) during this year’s RA Congress, held March 14–15 at Camp Grandview in Prattville.
The celebration was the first of several happening this year to commemorate the RA program’s centennial milestone. The congress and birthday party involved more than 500 boys, leaders and volunteers representing 49 churches, which “may be the highest number of churches we have had (at the RA Congress) in several years,” said Steve Stephens, RA consultant for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions.
According to RoyalAmbassadors.org, in the past century, tens of thousands of boys have accepted Christ during RA meetings and events and thousands first felt the call to missions while RAs. In addition, millions of ministry projects have been done and millions of boys have learned about missionaries and how to be on mission for Christ.
Additional 100th birthday events planned are:
– National RA Rally June 6–7 in Indianapolis,
– Alabama RA Camp Staff Reunion July 31–Aug. 2 at RA Camp at Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center in Talladega and
– RA summer camps the month of July at Shocco Springs with the theme Birthdays — the beginnings of someone or something new! The camps will emphasize spiritual birthdays, missionary birthdays and Christmas (Christ’s birthday). (TAB)
