Rashional Thoughts: TAB team in the air returning to Alabama at press time; report of migrant ministry opportunities coming soon

It’s been about 25 years since I first visited Tijuana, Mexico, (or TJ as the locals call it) and experienced driving across the U.S. southern border.

So when we decided to send a team from TAB to catch a glimpse of life at the border since the current humanitarian crisis began, I remembered how close San Diego was to TJ.

We first talked about crossing in Texas but after we learned about the ministry efforts led by the team at San Diego Southern Baptist Association we decided on that option — and it already felt slightly familiar.

While we did want to see with our own eyes what was happening at and around the border, we also had the bigger purpose of discovering and reporting on opportunities for God’s people to share His love and the hope that can only be found in Him.

And did we discover those — you’ll read more in coming weeks.

We were not able to secure access to an immigration processing center nor a detention center but we did get to sit down with an immigration official who works for the Mexican government to hear her story. We also walked along the wall in San Diego (pictured here) and walked and drove close to the wall while in TJ.
