Joseph Gibbons said every number has a name, and every name has a story.
And in the past 18 months or so at Favor City Church in Las Vegas, they’ve had a lot of stories — 40 baptisms, around 200 attending worship and one new church plant in another part of the city.
“We feel really grateful for the Alabama Baptists who support us and pray for us,” said Gibbons, an Alabama native who moved to Las Vegas with his wife Kristen and two kids in 2020 to plant Favor City. “We would love it if people would continue to pray that God strengthens the team on the ground to reach more people in the harvest.”
Some of the Gibbonses’ funding comes from gifts given through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions.
Building relationships
Every year, 100% of the AAEO goes directly to fund church planting work like theirs in Las Vegas. The national offering goal this year is $78 million, and the Alabama goal is $6 million.
“Annie allows us to have the resources our church needs so we can focus on building relationships,” Gibbons said.
This week — March 2–9 — is the Week of Prayer for North American Missions, which features the stories of church planters like him who are investing their lives to reach the lost with the hope of Jesus Christ.
