A 22-year-old Somali woman required hospitalization and surgeries after relatives beat her for placing her faith in Jesus Christ.
Sofia Ahmed not only suffered blood loss but also a broken nose in the May 28 attack at her home in Hagar in Somalia’s Lower Juba region, reported Morning Star News.

Ahmed put her faith in Jesus Christ on March 25. A Muslim uncle visited her several times afterward, at first confronting her for not attending mosque prayers but later showing a degree of interest when Ahmed told him about Jesus.
Then, on May 28, the uncle returned with three other relatives to ask Ahmed again if she had converted to Christianity.
Sources told Morning Star that the four beat Ahmed. Upon hearing the attack, many neighbors came to subdue the assailants and hold them for police. Although the four were arrested, Ahmed’s parents, who are Muslim, convinced police to release the suspects.
Morning Star reported that Ahmed underwent two surgeries and was still hospitalized at Hagar Maternal Centre in Jubaland as of June 5.
Underground Christians have vowed to assist her, said Morning Star.
