It was both a homecoming celebration and 100th anniversary for Republic Baptist Church, Birmingham, on Aug. 25.
Lana Amason, the church’s Woman’s Missionary Union director, helped plan the special day with several church members.
The worship service began at 10:30 a.m., and Linda Rodgers, representative from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented a plaque to the North Jefferson Baptist Association church. A banner recognizing Republic Baptist’s 100 years of proclaiming Christ was displayed, as well as a collage of pictures from the church’s past.
Following the service, everyone enjoyed lunch and an afternoon singing by the Royal Masters Quartet.
Pastor Guy Moore said the entire day was special, but he noted one of the most memorable aspects was the opportunity to see former church members who were in attendance. He added that the church’s vision for the future “is as bright as the hope we have in Christ.”
