Resolutions Committee Report
The Resolutions Committee Report to the 182nd Annual Session of the Pickens Baptist Association.
BE IT RESOLVED:
That we, the Pickens Baptist Association, corporately, and individually as members, publicly and faithfully acknowledge Jesus Christ as The Son of The Living God and Lord of our lives; that we rely on The Holy Scriptures and The Holy Spirit to guide our personal lives; and that we worship The Great Sovereign God of the universe.
And that we express our appreciation to our host churches: Reform Baptist Church and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Gordo for their gracious and hospitable service to our 182nd Annual Session.
Likewise, we also express our gratitude to Dr. Gary Farley, Director of Missions, and to Bro. Glenn Sandifer, moderator for the 2016 – 2017 church year, for their superb leadership for our association. And we further express our appreciation to all of our officers, program directors, office staff, the standing committees, and those who have stood in the gap as praying members, for another commendable year of service.
And we express our thanks and appreciation to the Pickens Baptist Disaster Relief team for their tireless and valiant efforts as they ministered to the Reform, Friendship, and Palmetto Communities and have recently traveled to Ft. Myers, Florida, to assist with the Hurricane Irma damage.
And we are eternally grateful to God for the successes of the mission efforts of the association, our churches and our fellow members here, across America and around the World. As we celebrate 166 years of continuous service on the International Mission field, we pledge to continue our support to all of our missionaries of our denomination and in particular those from our churches. We therefore give all the Honor and Glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
And we express our appreciation for the invaluable service, of the Volunteers of the Baptist Center and all those who contribute items to this ministry. We thank our Father that finances from this great ministry to those locally, also supports local, North American, and International Mission ministries.
That we pray for the development of a strong vocational education program as a key to the well-being of our children and of our communities, and are thankful for the progress being made in the new local vocational training center.
That we pray for our Nation and a world torn by war and tragedies, and for individuals and communities devastated by recent hurricanes and an earthquake, and that we encourage every child of God to pray for a mighty revival in our personal lives as well as cooperatively in our churches and in our nation, and that our great Nation will turn back to God.
We thank God for His guidance in the past year as we have sought new leadership for our association and for the committee members who have given of time and energies to make the transition successful and with great anticipation for our services to God in the future.
We thank Dr. Gary Farley for his 20 years of committed service to God here on the Pickens Baptist Association field of ministry, and for his part in the grown in our churches and with individuals. We thank him for his leadership ability, his preaching and teaching that have meant so much to our association, and we thank him for the vision that he has had in preparing us and the future association to serve the Lord in the prison field at Aliceville. Believing that God called him to this field for such a time as this, we offer our thanks first to God and then to Bro. Gary for being the instrument of God to lead out in this work.
We thank God for the work that Mrs. Jacque Farley has done in our association during their service of 20 years. For her graciousness and her wisdom, her work with the Baptist Center, the Diabetic Clinic, her soft messages of encouragement and hope to those in need, her leadership in the Pastors’ Wives Fellowship, and her capable assistance in the office and with preparation of the many meetings.
WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Gary Farley have served Pickens Baptist Association faithfully for the past twenty years and through their Christian leadership lives have been changed throughout our county and association, and upon their retirement, they will be greatly missed.
