Retired Autauga Baptist Association Director of Missions Aubret H. White passed away Oct. 9. He was 89.
White served in ministry for 69 years, leading several churches in Alabama including White Springs Baptist Church, Rainbow City; Huxford Baptist Church and Mexia Baptist Church. He also served Good Year Baptist Church, Picayune, Miss. He was the director of missions for Autauga Association from 1978 to 1986.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Livingston University (now University of West Alabama) and a master’s degree in theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
White served in the Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was a Navy Reserve chaplain on USS Noa (DD-841) in 1958 and began active duty with the Marines in 1962, serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from the reserves as a Navy chaplain in 1970.
White and his wife of 66 years, Florence, were members of East Memorial Baptist Church, Prattville, at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife; three children; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
