Retired Southern Baptist missionary Jarrett W.H. Richardson Jr. died Jan. 26. He was 92.
A native of Ariton, Richardson graduated from Howard College (now Samford University) in Birmingham and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., before going to the missions field through the Foreign Mission Board (now the International Mission Board).
He and his wife, Margaret, served nearly 37 years as missionaries to Nigeria before retiring in 1981. There he served as a field evangelistic worker, while his wife served as a physician on the staffs of Baptist hospitals in the cities where they lived and worked. Before going overseas, Richardson served as a schoolteacher and pastor of churches in Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana and South Carolina.
Richardson was preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by his daughter, three sons, 15 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. (TAB)
