Rick Reaves — longtime pastor of Hill Crest Baptist Church, Anniston — died April 15. He was 71.

Reaves began his ministry in 1970 as youth pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Oxford, then in 1977 became youth minister of Moore Avenue Baptist Church, which later changed its name to Hill Crest Baptist. He served in that role for 15 years, then as senior pastor for 25 years before retiring in 2017. During his time at Hill Crest, he baptized 3,471 people.

Reaves is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice; son, Chris; daughter, Gina; and five grandchildren.
