God Speaking
Koch Records

Ronnie Freeman’s sophomore release “God Speaking” is satisfying across the board. It sounds young but the old will certainly enjoy it. It rocks but then it settles.

The reverential sobriety of a standard, multilayered worship song will by the next track be swallowed by a stripped-down, hop-along pop sound that could easily be featured in a quirky, Oscar-buzzed film about teenagers.
What’s remarkable is how little this distracts from the power of the record. It’s a power that indeed stems not only from the sold-out passion evident in Freeman’s voice and the poetry of his lyrics but also the apparent versatility of his musical vision.

Freeman, who began his career in Montgomery at age 7, is well on his way to the upper ranks of contemporary Christian music innovators.
