Rosedale pastor Jerry Koster dies at age 80

Jerry Koster Sr. of Tuscaloosa died May 9 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. He was 80.

Koster was active as a pastor for more than 51 years. He was called to preach at Little Sandy Baptist Church and then served as pastor of Pondville Baptist Church, Brent; associate pastor of Eastern Gate Baptist Church, Cottondale; pastor of Elrod Baptist Church; interim pastor of  Indian Lake Baptist Church, Northport; pastor of Community Baptist Church, Moundville, and pastor of Rosedale Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa. He started a hunting farm with his sons called Tri-K Farms.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Koster. He is survived by two sons; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
