Samford University in Birmingham has a record spring semester enrollment of 4,489, topping the previous record of 4,370 set in spring 2006. There are 2,728 undergraduates and 1,761 graduate and professional students enrolled. Samford also had a record fall semester enrollment of 4,630. Spring semester enrollment typically is lower than fall semester enrollment because of winter graduation and the small number of new students who enroll midyear, according to R. Phil Kimrey, Samford’s vice president for student affairs and enrollment management.
Also a per semester tuition increase of $761 was recently approved by Samford’s board of trustees for full-time undergraduate students for the 2010–11 academic year. Annual full-time undergraduate tuition will now total $21,722 as opposed to the $20,200 in 2009–10.
