Samford University hosted Cleophus LaRue Feb. 20–22 as its featured guest during the 15th Annual William E. Conger Jr. Lectures on Biblical Preaching.
LaRue, the Francis Landey Patton Associate Professor of Homiletics at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, preached Feb. 20 and lectured Feb. 21–22 in the Andrew Gerow Hodges Chapel. The school also hosted LaRue at a luncheon Feb. 21 and gave students the opportunity to meet with him immediately afterward.
This year, May 4 is the day designated by the Southern Baptist Convention to celebrate and recognize the contributions of older adults in our congregations.
Several education bills moved across committees in the Alabama legislature.
“Every church has its own personality and culture, and wise leaders respond to this culture in appropriate ways,” Buddy Champion, pastor of First Baptist Church Trussville, said.
The Alabama Legislature sees bills regarding teacher injury compensation, health care officials refusing blood draw requests, driver’s licenses and ATV use.
